Jobs come and go. You only have one life. It's time to make the most of it, build wealth beyond the 9-to-5 + leave your mark on this world. Let's get to work! 🔥

I'm julie!

oh hey!

Let’s talk about the mental habit that keeps so many smart, capable professionals stuck on the 9-to-5 hamster wheel:

Waiting for permission.

We’re trained to do it. From your first job — “Can I take Friday off?” “Can I expense this?” “Can I make this decision?” — we’re conditioned to ask for approval before we act.

So when you start thinking, “Maybe I want to build something on the side…” your brain panics and says:

Cool, who do I ask about that?

And that’s the trap.

There is no form to submit. No boss to bless your brilliant business idea. No HR policy outlining acceptable entrepreneurial pursuits.

Which is wildly inconvenient if you’re used to being a top performer in a system that tells you exactly how to succeed.

But if you want to build wealth beyond your paycheck?

You have to stop waiting for the green light — and decide you’re going anyway.

The mindset shift you actually need

You don’t need permission. You need a plan.

What permission-seeking looks like

  • Over-researching. Because reading five more blog posts feels productive. (Spoiler: it’s not.)
  • Waiting for clarity. Hoping the perfect idea will float down from the sky and land on your keyboard.
  • Seeking validation. “Do you think I should start this?” (Asking your risk-averse coworker who has 14 PTO days banked for emergencies.)
  • Over-consulting. “I just need to run this by three more people, my dog and my old boss from 2017.”

What ownership looks like

1. Decide like an owner.

Ask: What would Future Me — who already built multiple income streams — do next?

She’d probably stop scrolling and start testing.

2. Validate with action.

Instead of obsessing over getting it “right,” try getting it real.

Sell one service. Launch one product. Post one video.

Let feedback come from real-world results, not people who aren’t your audience.

3. Set your own definition of success.

Maybe it’s $500/month. Maybe it’s having a fallback if your job disappears. Maybe it’s replacing your salary entirely.

You’re not aiming for “likes.” You’re designing freedom.

This shift doesn’t mean going rogue with no strategy.

It just means you own the strategy now.

You’re allowed to figure it out in motion.

You’re allowed to not know everything before you start.

You’re allowed to bet on yourself without needing everyone else to cosign.

You’re not doing this to impress anyone.

You’re doing it so one paycheck doesn’t control your life.

And that? Doesn’t require permission.

It requires courage. And a calendar block.

TL;DR

If you’re waiting for someone to say “You’re allowed to try” — this is it.

Try anyway. That’s how you break free from paycheck dependency and start building wealth on your own terms.
