You ever notice how “later” always sounds like a great time to do bold things?
Start the business? Later.
Invest in something new? Later.
Ask for the raise, build the course, hire help, raise your rates, pitch yourself?
Later, later, later, later.
Later is very agreeable. Later doesn’t judge you. Later is the dream assistant who clears your calendar, files your taxes, and finally builds that Etsy store you’ve been talking about since 2021.
But here’s the catch:
Later is a liar.
It gives the illusion of time… without any of the action.
And spoiler alert: later usually turns into never.
The dream doesn’t die with a bang.
It dies in your inbox.
Buried under a pile of unread newsletters and PTO blackout dates.
Things to consider:
1. Are you using “later” as a delay tactic… or a protection strategy?
Sometimes “I’ll do it later” is code for “I’m scared of looking foolish.”
Other times, it’s “I don’t trust myself to follow through.”
Figure out which flavor of fear you’re nibbling on.
2. What decision could you make this week that your future self will thank you for?
Book the domain. Write the outline. Send the email.
You don’t have to build the entire empire this week.
You just have to stop outsourcing your progress to some magical time in the future where you’re allegedly more organized and less tired.
3. What’s one “later” task that’s actually ready now?
You’ve probably got a money-making idea marinating that’s more done than you think.
Publish the offer. Pitch the workshop. Share the listing.
Imperfect action beats perfect delay every time.
Your challenge:
Quit flirting with “later.” Pick something and move.
You don’t need clarity. You need momentum.
“Later” will keep you safe.
But “now”?
Now is where your life starts to change.
